2008
The Sir William Peel travelled to Amsterdam to take part in The SC Overamstel cup this Easter. 28 players and coaching staff travelled to the Netherlands hoping for some European glory.
Arriving on the Friday evening the players checked into the Hans Brinker hotel, which was to be their base for the weekend. The hotel advertises itself as the worst hotel in the country and it sure was correct! Eight players to a room in bunk beds was going to make for some interesting stories over the coming few days.
The team settled well in Amsterdam taking in (erm)all the cultural stuff in the first night.Meeting in the foyer on Saturday morning a few sore heads were being nursed. The competion was not being played until the Sunday so the players had a spare day to visit all sites this wonderful city had to offer.
After a stroll back over many of the Amstedam canals and waterways the team found themselves back at the Hans Brinker, Where the world famous Brinker burger was being served(dog food!)
On the Sunday the Peel arrived at the majestic Overamstel arena to represent Bedfordshire in the cup. They faced tough opposotion from many teams, but after winning all their matches(played through snow storms) the Peel where crowned SC Overamstel champions 2008.Celebrations followed through the night and into the wee small hours of Monday..The Peel flew home that day with European glory etched forever in the memories of the team.
